Ok sorry for the Buffy reference, but i really do have a theory. My theory is that my University is selling our ideas. Ever since we had to generate ideas for possible new applications for the iphone, every idea we came up with has recently become a reality.
From interactive cookbooks (avaiable on NDS now), entertainment rating systems (website), and brain wave controlled interfaces(neurosky).
Well yeh, so today whilst browsing the interweb i read a new article about neurosky developing games where brainwaves control the characters actions as well as the technology being used for people unable to communicate in the normal way.
Everything that was revealed in the article is exactly what i theorised/designed for my assignment! This is leading to me thinking that somehow companies have found out about all our research and designs and are using them!
anyway that's the end of my ranting. The university is taking out designs damnit!!

SO last Thursday Suna and I finally had out Doctor Who marathon/baking day. I'm glad i can finally share my fascination with the tenth doctor with someone. I think the best thing about that marathon (apart from our epic cooking skillz) was the way Suna's friend, Nathan kept asking all these questions about Doctor Who as if it was real!! hahahahaha i wish it was. Ok and back to baking, below is a pic of how a cookie man i tried to make turned out.
Man that thing was such a chore to eat. I was sooo fuuuull.
Then Friday was even more of an epic day, and not just cause the Pope was in town hahaha. No it's caus after work that morning i headed off to Karaoke with some uni friends. Good ole Karaoke. I sang me heart out that day, although we ran out of time before we got to sing Love Shack by the B52's, but another time. As you can see, Florry had alot of fun.
And then after that we went to get some lunch and watched the stations of the cross on TV. That was realllllly weird. Eating and watching Jesus getting whipped, kinda ew. Then at about 7.30 we went to watch The Dark Knight.
Dark Knight was really really good, i absolutely love the way Chris Nolan has recreated the franchise. As much as everyone loves Heath Ledgers performance, i thought that Aaron Eckart and Christian Bale did pretty damn good themselves. I really like how they had a Two Face arc, and the way they presented it was good. The only thing they should have done was cut it somewhere near the factory explosion and Rachels death. That way we could have had more Two Face action. Oh! and did anyone else notice the catwoman reference? when Bruce Wayne was asking about whether his suit could hold up against dogs, and the guy replied that it could hold up to a large cat. yeh coool beans.
Oh and another development in my Doctor Who fangirling...TADAAAAA a Tardis. Ok so it's unfinished and stuck together with blu tac at the moment, BUT tomorrow i am going to find some blue paint at hobby co and maybe some mini hinges for the door.
Oh and friday is our Disney movie marathon :D yayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
p.s i have a new found appreciation for ABBA songs

I've been pretty ill for the last week or so, and i think it is due to very crummy weather. Normally i don't mind the cold, in fact i love it, but only when i get to be all rugged up inside. But this year that hasn't happened, I am more or less outside in the freezing cold at it's peak due to work. Times like these I hate having a job which i have to leave the house and travel to, especially at 7 in the morning when the wind is chilling me to the bone.
Basically the signs of sickness started due to abnoramally windy days where dust and pollen were flying around and i managed to get hayfever, IN WINTER! no less. yeh i should have gotten better but nooooooo then i had to get stuck in the rain at 6 which was freeeezing. I have not been that cold before, and i have been to the snow. Seriously it was colder than being up at Jindabyne. Then 2 days after that i missed my buss at 7 and had to wait at the bus stop for 20 minutes till the next one came. And it just had to be the windiest and coldest time since the sun was barely up. Being at work was no better, sure it was warm but i think i may be allergic to all the dust. Everytime I am on one of the floors with oldish books i seem to get itchy, and develop rashes up my arms and fingers, now if that isn't a sign of allergies, then i dunno what is.
But apart from sickness, and missed meetups with my friends (sorry guys) i have managed to accumulate some new items. Indeed, i have finally gotten my headphones which my brother bought for my birthday. They are pretty cool if i do say so myself. VERY retro, and they work really well since they have good bass. In fact i am wearing them now and they're so comfortable and i love how they block out sound (haha no more parental whinging to be heard!).
Also during one of my sick days i had to go and look into phone plans, since my exhisting one was going to change. And since i am sick of Telstra i thought, why not change phone providers as well. Hence i ended up at the Optus store, and only willing to spend $30 on a phone plan (yeh right!). I actually wanted to get an iPhone but this was more due to the massive hype around it's realease. In fact i like many Deco1200 students really really have a grudge against the piece of crap. I swear last yr if you had mentioned iPhone to me i would have cut you up into little pieces, the thing caused so much stress and frustration for me and other deco1200 peeps since we had to "hypothetically" develop an application. The only good hting that came out of that unit of study was web design skills and a love for blogging about pointless crapola. BUT ANYWAY! back to the phone....
Yeh so i was talked out of getting the iPhone by loyal friends (suna and mike), thankfully. However i was convinced by others to get a $49 cap, which was more than i was willing to spend, but i guess now i can call people more rather than just texting. The phone i ended up getting was the Nokia 6220, which has a cool camera and flash! woot no need for a new camera now hahah. But yes it hasn't been activated yet which i think is dodgy since i bought it on Thursday, so i'll probably call Optus on Monday. But getting a new phone came at the right time since i just dropped my old one and the screen doesn't appear anymore :( (RIP old phone). But i feel really strange about having bought my first new phone ever. Usually i get hand me down phones but i splurged this time lol.
I just realised that then next book in the Twilight series comes out in a few days or weeks (i dunno really) and i haven't even read the ones i have bought. SO i am taking the opportunity today to read all the books i have started, especially the on that is overdue at my library (oops). So i am spending a very lazy day reading "Gods Behaving Badly" a pretty funny book about how modern greek gods go about their business in our world. And also "Ecclipse". TO be honest i don't really like the twilight books. No let me rephrase, i don't like the mian character in the books. She is a twat, and completely unbelievable. I mean no 17/18yr old girl acts the way she does, and thus i hate Bella. I do however enjoy every other character in the book. But i feel obligated to continue reading the books since i feel like i've spent so much time and effor treading the rest, i might as well finish the series.
So i'm off to read, and you can read the abnormally long blog post. Please forgive me for such a long tirade of nonsense.
P.S OMFG!!!!!!! i forgot to say that i got some results back from uni and surprisingly i got CREDITS in 3 of my subjects :D which i am happy about but i feel that if i worked alot harder i could have gotten a D somewhere. Feel lousy in comparison to other friends marks but hey at least i have my credit average. IT was the biggest shocker since i got 71 and was juss hoping to scrape in a Pass. YAY me!

So today i had work, it was pretty uneventful since no one really uses books during uni break. So i spent 3 and a half hours wandering the many floors of Fisher Library shelving extremely slowly. You can only stretch 3.5 hours so much. Anywhos, on Tuesday i went to the city to watch Hancock with Suna and George. It was alot better than i thought it'd be, it was a tad sad though. But really i thought the movie would be kinda gay lol, with just lotsa action and nothing else good. It was really funny thanks to Jason Bateman who is hellll funny. The funniest part was when Hancock (will smith) and Mary (charlize theron) were fighting in the kitchen haha. But if you ever watch a funny movie, you should watch it with my friend Suna, man can that girl laugh!!! i swear at some point it was just her laughing, and her alone. It was hilarious. Even the little kids in front of us turned to stare at her lol.
But over the weekend i spent making the geekiest thing everrrrr!! lol but it was alot of fun and i love it to bits :D
I'll post pics below of it. But let me explain if you can't already tell, i made a plushie of Doctor Who, the tenth doctor in fact. My beloved David Tennant, how i love you!!! it took about 2 days to make, and actually wasn't to darn hard to make. He still needs the brown overcoat though. I think i'll make more plushies of different things. I have an idea of what to make next but i'll have to look into what the costume should look like.
And finally i am enrolled into general drawing, which i am told is easy credit points, but the teacher is pretty crap(so i've heard). But i can finally draw for a purpose. Only thing i have to fix up now is my IT subject. Ok back to TV watching oooo Cold Case is on squeeeee.

So yesterday I did some driving which was nerve wrecking for me. I managed to get all the way to Punchbowl :D (YAY) but i'm still really freaked out on main roads. I have a personal vendetta against the person whp decided manual cars were a good idea, I HATE THE CLUTCH!!!! ok well any way i have nothing good to say at the moment, and just thought my blog looked very empty.
So as i wait for exam results i shall also think of something interesting to talk about, but untill the next time, cya.

And then we pretty much just did some shopping where I bought panda snacks. mmmmmmmm panda, the endangered goodness. So excited for tomorrow night though :D, i'm going to bed bar! woooot should be an interesting experience since the cousins and older sibs are coming along too, and they all seem to want me to get drunk (this will not happen...no way). Only bad thing about tomorrow is the dreaded early start due to work. Ok this is starting to get boring for everyone involved so i'll end this post here and leave you with a lovely video of child hood nostalgia.
P.s Mahti had it coming, seriously.

Alas! it has been too long my dear journal, but semester 1 is officialy over for me. My last exam was on Monday and what a shocker it was. Firstly I turned up like 2 hours early so I ended up chatting to this guy who'd been in my class the whole semester, but we'd never ever spoke. I still don't know his name in fact. But yeah, so did that for an hour and then met up with my friend Daniel Fenech (who lives out in the country that is Liverpool). The exam should have been easy if i'd actually looked through EVERYTHING but oh well, no time for regretting when I can be living, Yay!
Ok so onwards and upwards! pretty much not much has changed since last holidays, except I now work at the Uni library, spend way to much time at said uni, have aged (i'm now 19, and not happy about it), and I have seemed to acquire many more geekish traits.
1. I joined the chess club ( i don't even know how to play well)
2. Have started becoming a n00b programmer.
3. I now work at a UNI library (how sophisticated is that!)
4. I watch Doctor Who religously.
5. Have adopted Battlestar Galactica slang into my vocabulary.
I could be here all day listing the geeky and the nerdy, but i shall spare anyone who reads thisthe pain of scrolling. But yes I am in love with Doctor Who, and this craze would not have happened if it weren't for Suna and Ana immersing me into the fandom.
As I have multitudes of time on hand (when not working of course) I intend to fill it with more geekery and excessive spending. It's going to be pretty damn fun actually. So far what is planned for the holiday of awesome is, karaoke, movie marathons, a chance to improve my drawing ability and learn to drive I guess. I think Suna's list of this to see and do are pretty much the same as mine, although you should probably add a trip to Spotlight. So instead of just rewriting what she wrote, head over to her blog and check it out for yourself.
I'm off to watch Naruto and to oggle pictures of David Tennant, the god amongst men and Who fans. I'll be back to talk about the Get Smart movie based on one of my fave old shows. Cheerio old chaps!

Ok so i have been waiting for about a month to find out if i got this job interview. I am applying for a part time position in the same place i am working at and this is because u have to reapply for ur position or another position if you want to stay on.
However because i sent my application by email i didn't know if it got through and it was killing me. The fact that I sat opposite the lady who was going through all the stuff made it even worse, hearing all the phone calls and enquiries. Especially when someone called up to check if there application had made it and she couldn't find it. This freaked me out. And over the past few weeks they have been doing interviews and such but they were for different positions such as casual and technician jobs. But then i kept thinking i should be getting a call soon. A week after, still no call.
Then today at work the lady got heaps of calls for ppl to confirm the part time interviews. I thought "ok, i didn't get an interview, time to look for a new job". SOOO i pretty much spent the rest of the day a bit annoyed caus i would have to reapply at some other workplace where i'd get like $8.00 and hr compared to $22.
So just as i was going to walk out of work at 5, the lady asks me "are you Emma? Emma chee?" and i;m like yes (i only sit in front of u like every week dah!) then she tells me that she just received the list for the specific part time position i applied for, and she thought she might as well let me pick a time before she calls everyone else. I was really shocked though, i was in disbelief i could even get an interview but yay! So i may have a job for the year after all. It does mean i will have to change some subjects because it will clash with the work times but that's ok.
So for starters, New Zzealand was amazing!!! so much to see all the time. I spent the first to days in NZ in Christchurch, it's a fairly small place that moves at a very slow pace. Here we climbed the Cathedral which might i add is a pretty impresive feat. The stairs were spirally and about 1 meter(or less) wide and very very steep. But the view from the top was fantastic. So fantastic that when the fire alarm went off we refused to climb all the way back down lol.
It was also in Christchurch where i expressed lots and lots of joy running up and down the hotel hallyway screaming "i got in!!!!" at about 11pm. To this i was referring to the fact that i had succesfully trasnfered from a Bachelor of Science and Technology to Bachelor of Design COmputing. NO MORE MATHS FOR MEEEEE squeeeeeeeeee. Then after 2 days we drove down to Wanaka, about a 6 hour drive but the scenery was so amazing that the hours just pased us by.
So the next 8 days we spent mainly in Wanaka at this resort but during the day we travelled to Queenstown and Arrowtown. I bought me a miniature version of Sting(the sword from lotr not the singer haha) it cost me $100 but i love it to bits. I also went white water rafting which was a hell of alot of fun. Our guide person Jarod kept trying to kill us, he kepy pushing us out of the raft whenever we could which scared the hell out of everyone since we were told that we could die so many different ways doing rafting.
Arrowtown was this small little town that used to be a mining town. It is here that they filmed the introduction to the lord of the rings from the first movie (extended edition) and also the bit where the ring wraiths are chasing arwen across the river and are washed away. Speaking of LOTR me and the family went on this tour and it was so much fun, we re enacted so many scenes at the exact place they were filmed. We even got to hold the weapons form the movie and i tell you those suckers are heavy!
Ok enough of NZ. By the time i got back i had to focus on my enrolment. Since i got my friend to enrol by proxy i had to go back in and fill in forms and such. But luckily that is all fine and done. Now i am just working lots and playing Bass. I can now play the bass bit to Message in a Bottle by the Police. Woot!
But yeah other than work and Bass my holidays have been pretty uneventful. But when Suna gets back we are so going out as much as we can before uni starts. including o week.

Making it difficult for me to tell if i get a uni offer or not. BUt oh wells.

Huzzah! i have finally done some geocaching. It is a rather fun activity but can be mighty tiring in the heat. I went with my brother and his friend in the morning and i think we went to about 5 different places to find the different caches. Wwe were succesful every time :D we ended up trading things like phone cards and bouncy balls for rubber frogs, glitter pens and a leveler. it's so funny necause when u find these caches you are not supposed to let peopl see what you are doing as they can tamper with the caches. We name these ordinary people "muggles" and today we encountered a few. Wwhen we were at homebush there was a cache hidden under a bridge, which we got easily enough. But then a family came over to see what we were doing so we had to pretend we were looking for frogs in the stream. This made them stay for ages! so we had to walk off and return later. Wwhen we returned to our amazement there was a rubber frog in the cache which we could trade, so of course we took it.
The second bunch of muggles i encountered today was when my friend Sarah and i went looking for a cache in a church cemetary. here we are looking behind tombstones, in bushes and under rocks. Then we notice an old couple, they start to approach us and at this point i think they are looking for the same thing as us or trying to get us out. In the end it turns out they were writing a book on their family history and the people buried in the church graveyard. So we had to pretend we were looking for Granny Smiths grave (yes she made the granny smith apple) so they showed it to us but also spent half an hour explaining who everyone was in the entire graveyard (sigh) in the end we didn't find our cache and just wanted to leave.
And that is the end of my little adventure for today, i am now going to have to organise some enrolment sutff just in case i get a UAC offer for design computing. I will have to give all the info to my proxy enroler Sarah(thanks stodd).

Ok so i'm getting new glasses and i want them to be kinda different to the ones i'vce had previously, so nothing too plain. So far i have narrowed it down to these 3:
1.

2.

3.

right now i;m thinking number one, but we shall see. hahah ok anyways! i hope everyone had a good holiday season, we have just taken down the christmas lights and murdered the tree(chopped it up). Tomorrow other than an optometrist appointment i will be getting some cool new converse shoes and watching national treasure FINALLY!!!

Ok so i added learn some basic Bass guitar stuff to my pretty long list. But yeah i got a Bass guitar! woot, well i actually got it from my friend since he got a new one and needed to get rid of his old one. Yep so so far i am being taught by my younger brother. Let me stress YOUNGER, he is a pretty damn skilled muscian in my opinion. he can play like any instrument and any song, so much so it annoys the crap outta me. But he taught me how to play the bass part of apolagize by one nation. thankfully it's only like 4 different notes lol. I can't believe he kjust picked up the bass and was like "hmmmm ok this is how it works" and off he played. Anyways off to draw something.

Well i had a fairly good christmas and New Year. I had relatives come from Singapore and America which was good since i hadn't seen them in ages, also this meant that i had a reasin to go to the zoo :D soo yes i went to the zoo on boxing day. Surprisingly there were ALOT of people there, but i still managed to get some good pictures with out people walking past.
So for Chnristmas i managed to receive some cool stuff, a gold limited edition Nintendo DS, a pink portable hard drive and many myer cards and borders cards. Yay for presents!!!
New years eve was just as interesting as i had a harry potter movie marathon, cooked some food and watched fireworks as well. 11hours of harry potter goodness woot! ok so after pigging out alot during christmas i am determined to detox and be all healthy :D this means i will also have to get into a respectable sleeping pattern (so no more sleeping at 3 and waking at 12).
ok so on that note. to bed i go.
Ok so anyways, i bought this new book Twilight by Stepahnie Meyer. It's about this girl moving to this new town and finding herself drawn to this really really good looking guy who just so happens to be a vampire. I dunno but lately i have been sorta obsessed with vamps. I mean like i am reading this book about vampires and also watching the show moonlight, also about vampires. Not sure why. But anyway back to the book, i;m basically reading it because i hear it's being turned into a movie starring Kristen Stewart (the girl from Speak and Panic Room) and Robert Pattinson of Harry Potter fame (Cedric). Seems to be a hyped film and book so i'll just have to see for myself.
Righto i'm off to watch the rest of The Hogfather.

Firstly I have got to say i love that quote. I first heard it whilst chatting to my very indie friend Ana at a party. I can't believe how long it has been since yr 12 finished, I mean i haven't spoken to some of my best friends from high school for like a year, but it doesn't feel like that long even. And secondly i;m sorry i have neglected my blog. Forgive me Suna.
This past weekend has been a big blast form the past. I had 2 parties to go to, a 19th on Saturday (Nicoles) and a 18th Birthday on the sundday (Amanda). I was pretty tired i tell you, it was like party and work overload. But it was so much fun too so i shouldn't really complain. They noth had themes but i only really adhered to the saturday theme which was uniforms. I for the first time in god knows how many years, i put on my scout uniform. Amazingly my shirt fit, i refused to wear the short shorts though lol. But the fact that i fit in the shirt isn't as shcoking as knowing that my friend sarah still fits into her PRIMARY SCHOOL UNIFORM. That is just insane! INSANE SARAH! no one should be that skinny! sheesh lol.
But i met some really cool people, alot of of people dressed up as nurses and doctors, but then again what can you expect from medscience people. It's in their blood no matter what. After one of the guys got pushed into the ppo lthe novelty of jumping in clothes and all kinda wore off, but that's ok since we had a cool jukebox to entertain us. Unfortunately sarah and i got to niocles place early and programmed songs we like. Let's say that we have a rather "eclectic" taste in music. This coming from the girl who likes pop opera mind you. Oh and my most recent addition to my muscial genres is Acapella. It is amazing what some people can do, absolutelty amazing and i am glad i read Nicki Clynes blog and learnt about what acapella actually is.
Anyway back on topic, Amandas birthday was alotta fun seeing people i hadn't seen in years. Like this girl Liz. I only knew her back in highschool as the awesome violinist but after chatting to her like ALL nite i realised how awesome she is, and i;m hoping she can hook me up with some people in Eminence since she goes to the Conservatorium and knows people in the group :D.
Ok so the latest thing i watch these days are the show "Moonlight" and "gossip girl" Suna you would love gossip girl and moonlight since they have Veronica mars peeps in it. Latest fave song is "apolagise" by timbaland and "in this life" by Delta. That's pretty much it so far.

Wwell apart form the overload of work i have. :( Work keeps calling to give me more shifts, money=good but now i really don't have time to do the stuff i planned to. Which is very annoying. Ok i know you might be thinking it's a bit early for a new years resolution, but recently i had an epiphany. Whilst reading the blog of Emmy Cicierega this really talented girl who draws like crazy and is behind the whole potter pals phenomenom with her brother i spotted a video she had featured. The video title funky forest showcased this amazing artistic piece which was a completely virtual environment. The whole design of this virtual environment has inspired me to wanting to be able to make such interactive works as well. I have always been faccinated by human behaviour so i think this could be an interesting career path. So finally my new years resolution is to be able to program very very well so that i can make stuff like in the video.
But it wasn't only this funky forest video i was amazed about, but also this group called The Sancho Plan, they are amazing. I can't even describe what they do, you will have to see for yourself. But they are down right amazing.
So i am more determined than ever to get into design computing as science is very much so the wrong degree for me at this point in time. And just for a bit of laughs make sure you watch this video, you WILL rofl and lol.
